Federation Sports Day at Barton Stacey C of E Primary

Federation Sports Day Thursday 23rd June 2016

Our first very Federation Sports Day was held on Thursday 23rd June on the playing fields of Barton Stacey Primary.  We travelled over by coach to join the children of Barton Stacey, and what a fantastic day we all had!

The weather was not great at the start of the day, and so we made an early decision to cancel the picnic lunch with parents.  What a pity – may be next year!

A wide range of activities had been organised including circus skills, gymnastics air strip, football and netball matches, cricket tournament, parachute games and athletics.  Some of activities were led by external sports coaches including our usual sports provider Planet Education.

Just before lunch we had an Olympic style parade with every child wearing the colours representing a nation’s flag.  It was a great chance for staff and children to join together as one Federation community.

During the afternoon we had an inter-school rounder’s match – it was a draw, five all!

We completed our day with the presentation of medals to a wide range of children who were nominated for their effort, perseverance, teamwork and sportsmanship.

The day ended with many smiles and happy faces.  One child summed the day up by saying “I’ve tried new activities today and made some new friends.  When’s the next federation event?”

It was a very successful day!
