The safety, wellbeing, and happiness of every child are our highest priorities. At Micheldever C of E Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe, caring, and supportive environment where all children can learn, grow, and thrive.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We work hard to ensure that all pupils feel valued, listened to, and protected, and we promote a culture where children know they can speak to a trusted adult if they have any worries or concerns.
Our staff receive regular safeguarding training and follow clear procedures to help keep children safe. We work closely with families, external agencies, and other professionals to ensure that children receive the support they need at the right time.
Safeguarding includes protecting children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, radicalisation, online risks, and any other factors that may affect their welfare. We also help pupils develop the knowledge and skills they need to keep themselves safe, both in school and beyond, through our curriculum and wider school experiences.
If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please contact the school and speak to a member of our safeguarding team. We will always take concerns seriously and act in the best interests of the child.

The Prevent Duty
As part of our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, Micheldever C of E Primary School fulfils its responsibilities under the Prevent Duty. The Prevent Duty is a government initiative that aims to protect children and young people from being drawn into terrorism, extremism, or radicalisation.
We recognise that safeguarding children from these risks is part of our wider responsibility to keep pupils safe from harm. Through our curriculum, collective worship, assemblies, and wider school experiences, we promote fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.
Our staff receive appropriate training to help them identify and respond to concerns, and we work closely with families and external agencies where necessary to ensure that children receive the support they need. We encourage pupils to think critically, respect different viewpoints, and develop the confidence to challenge prejudice, discrimination, and harmful influences.
Should any concerns arise regarding a child's vulnerability to radicalisation or extremism, these will be treated as safeguarding concerns and managed in line with our safeguarding procedures.
