Katy Toms (Co-Opted Governor) Katy has been a Governor for more than six years and is also a Governor at Perins School in Alresford. She has a son at Micheldever School and two older children who also attended the school. She is a Parish Councillor for Micheldever and a Trustee of several local Charities. She is also the Administrator for Micheldever & Stratton Pre-school. The rest of her time is spent swimming, cycling and running and she frequently competes in multi-discipline endurance races

 

Reverend Mark Bailey (Foundation Governor) Mark has been a school governor for most of the twenty years he has been ordained. He has served in parishes and schools across Hampshire and all three Dioceses that cross the county, Portsmouth, Guildford and Winchester. He has been Rector of the Lower Dever Benefice for the past three years. Born in Leeds, he grew up in South Africa and speaks three languages: English, Afrikaans and Yorkshire!
 

Lee Stangroom (Staff Governor) is the Head of School at Barton Stacey, he currently teaches Years 5 and 6, as well as being the Key Stage 2 and Inclusion Leader at the school. He is originally from Kent but settled in Hampshire after meeting his wife at University. When he is not busy at work, he enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family.

 

Doctor Sarah Hazard (Foundation Governor) Sarah has lived in Barton Stacey for 7 years with her husband Lee, who is a serving Naval Officer. Their two children are both in the infants at Barton Stacey Primary School. She is a local GP and ex-Army Officer and also runs Sunday School in the village Church. Sarah is a member of FROGS, Barton Stacey school fundraising organisation.

 

Nick Dunford (Parent Governor) Nick was elected Parent Governor in December 2017 and has lived in Barton Stacey for 3 years. Nick and his wife Jana have two children, one in the infants at Barton Stacey Primary and a younger sibling who has just started nursery. New to education but an experienced businessman, Nick has run his own successful Engineering Consultancy practise based in London and the South East specialising in Intelligent Buildings and Energy Management, for over 15 years.

 

Alison Thompson (Parent Governor). Alison is a senior project manager accredited with PRINCE 2 Practitioner. She is adept at developing projects from start-up: winning funds, managing staff, budgets, stakeholders and contractors. She is a passionate environmental advocate possessing both strong academic sustainability credentials and over a decade’s experience leading projects for Board level clients across the sectors from Water Companies to Government departments. Her eldest son is at Micheldever Primary and youngest at Micheldever and Stratton Pre-school. She speaks Spanish having taught with VSO in the Cloud Forests of Costa Rica where she looks forward to taking the boys one day!

 

Theresa Turner (Parent Governor) Theresa lives in Norton with her husband and their two children, both of whom attend Barton Stacey School.  An experienced businesswoman, Theresa holds an Honours degree in International Business with Modern Languages from Leicester Business School. She works full time as owner and Joint Managing Director of an international packaging machinery company. Theresa welcomes the opportunity to take an active role within the Federation’s governing body.

 

Hannah Melrose (Co-opted Governor) is the Head of School for Micheldever CE Primary School and has been teaching at the school for 7 years, 6 of which she has been part of the Governing Body. Currently, she teaches Year 3 and 4 having previously taught in Year R, 1 and 2. Her passions lie in supporting, developing and celebrating children's learning and being part of the Governing Body allows her to do this successfully. Mrs Melrose is a keen musician and sports enthusiast, she enjoys developing musical and sporting experiences for children in the schools.

 

Shane Jarman (Co-Opted Governor) Shane lives in Andover with his wife and their two children, both of whom attend Barton Stacey School. A successful teacher, having taught across the whole of the Primary Age Phase from Nursery to Year 6. During his teaching career Shane received a BT Teacher of the Year Award, and whilst serving as Headteacher, Shane moved a school out of Ofsted category of Special measures into Good. Shane and his wife decided three years ago to give up teaching and set up their own successful Business venture of owning a Nursery and Preschool here in Wickham, Hampshire. He works as co-owner and Managing Director of the Nursery. A recent Ofsted inspection categorised the Nursery and its leadership under Shane as Good. Shane sees the opportunity to share his expertise and experience of education to help support the Federation in its journey and the children in making progress as very exciting.

 

Jennie Crompton (Co-opted Governor) Jennie grew up in Worcestershire and studied English Literature at Leeds University. After graduating, Jennie then studied for a degree in Acting from Guildford School of Acting. She worked successfully as an actor for 5 years – whilst also teaching drama, running workshops in schools for Enterprise and Communication and leading training for business roleplay companies. She lives in Micheldever with her family. Two of her children attend Micheldever with a little one to join before too long!

 

Lucy Thomas (Parent Governor) Lucy lives in Barton Stacey with her husband and three children, two cats and several hens. After University, Lucy enjoyed a fascinating couple of years as a Hotel Inspector for the AA. She did her Post Graduate Certificate in Education in 2004 and has enjoyed teaching in and around the Winchester area since. Lucy is a member of FROGS and, when she has time, can be found ploughing up and down the local swimming pool.

 

Helena Holden (Co-opted) Helena lives in Micheldever with her husband Simon and their three daughters, who all attend Micheldever COE Primary. She was formerly an Army Officer and has since worked in recruitment and marketing before setting up her own businesses delivering after school cookery and language clubs both privately and in local schools. Most recently, she has spent 5 years on the Micheldever and Stratton Preschool committee as Fundraising lead.

 

 

 

The Governing Body is served by a Clerk to the Governing Body, who organises the agenda with the Chair of Governors, distributes paperwork and takes minutes of meetings. The Clerk cannot vote when the Governing Body makes decisions. Emma is Barton Stacey school’s Admin Assistant (who was also a Major in the Army) and has three children at Barton Stacey.
