Our Inclusion Manager, Mrs Carolyn Coleman, is employed to ensure any pupil with an additional or special need is provided for and supported whilst at school. She works closely with all school staff, external agencies, pupils and their parents. Mrs Coleman spends her time monitoring pupil progress and learning in the classroom, supporting our team of experienced Learning Support Assistants in delivering intervention programmes and leading staff meetings. She is always available to meet with parents who may have concerns or questions. Tuesday mornings at 8.30am are often a good time to meet with Mrs Coleman, no need to make an appointment.
Mrs Coleman regularly meets with our SEN Governors to discuss provision in place for our SEND pupils and evaluate its impact on the progress and attainment. An SEN report is included in Governor meetings as part of the Executive Headteacher report or through specific items included on the Agenda for example, at our CSE (Curriculum, Standards and Ethos) meetings. Assessment of our SEND pupils is tracked and recorded, this is effectively monitored during such meetings and with the Senior Leadership Team. We pride ourselves on looking carefully at our curriculum and how it, together with the learning environment, is adapted to meet the needs of our pupils.
With support from Parent Voice and Hampshire Parent Carer Network, an online source has been launched for parents, professionals and young people to find out about services and support for children and young people up to the age of 25, who have special educational needs or who are disabled (SEND). The purpose of the Local Offer website (www.hantslocaloffer.info/) is to become a comprehensive, single source of information about health, education, social care support and leisure services for children and young people with special educational needs or who are disabled.
Parent Voice is providing telephone support alongside the Local Offer website on: 0300 303 8603.
