Our curriculum is organised into topics which cover a wide range of subject areas such as history, geography and science. We aim to make many cross-curricular links in learning so that the children experience learning that is interesting, relevant, fun and challenging.
English and Mathematics is taught daily throughout the school, with a daily phonics lesson for pupils in Oak and Pine classes. Our phonics programme is based on the Letters and Sounds scheme of work, whilst our reading schemes include Oxford Reading Tree and Scholastic books. Teaching staff ensure phonics sessions include Grammar and Spelling as set out in the National Curriculum 2014.
Our curriculum maps, included on this page, provide an overview of the topics to be covered each year, whilst our curriculum letters provide greater detail about weekly learning in the classrooms.
We also add curriculum information to our Newsbulletins each week which helps to keep parents up to date with current learning.
Each term we aim to hold Curriculum Information Sessions for parents. These sessions are often well attended and provide valuable information for parents about teaching and learning and approaches to certain subject areas. Parents are encouraged to ask questions at these sessions.
If you should require additional information relating to our curriculum, please speak to a member of office staff. For existing parents, the class teachers, Head of School or Executive Headteacher will be able to provide you with any further details that you should require.
